Tom Granum and Doris Granum

A native of Warner Robins, Tom Granum is Director of Music and Organist at First Presbyterian Church, Athens, Georgia, a position he has held for over 25 years. In addition to his interest in organ for performance and worship, he has been active as a conductor and singer, including his having sung in several of the small ensembles conducted by the late Robert Shaw. First Presbyterian Church is highly respected for their five choirs, ranging from children’s choirs through a senior-adult group, and for the quality of their worship music, including a youth choir that has toured internationally twice in the last five years. Tom plans organ programs and recitals that are interesting not only for the seasoned listener but also for the person who hearing the organ for the first time.

Doris Granum holds a doctorate in music education from The University of Georgia and an undergraduate degree from Carson-Newman College. Teaching music at Oglethorpe Avenue Elementary School, Athens, she introduces children to the beauty and joy of music, especially singing. She, too, sang in several of the select ensembles conducted by the late Robert Shaw.
